CS-Cart Enterprise is what some people—ourselves included—
used to call CS-Cart 5. In reality, it's not a new version, but an entirely different product. If CS-Cart is "a house that you can move into", then CS-Cart Enterprise is "a very solid foundation foundation for a skyscraper".We built CS-Cart Enterprise from the ground up, with different technologies. For example, it uses Laravel for the back end, supports PostgreSQL, and offers GraphQL API for interactions with the front end. This removes the constraints of legacy code, and makes CS-Cart Enterprise easier to work with for more developers.
The focal points of CS-Cart Enterprise are:
- "API first" approach to architecture.
- Performance and scalability.
- Ease of development
The drawback is that CS-Cart Enterprise won't work with the add-ons and themes developed for normal CS-Cart. If you need some functionality, you'll need to have it developed by your team or a contractor.
Because CS-Cart and CS-Cart Enterprise are so different (and are meant for different audiences), they are separate products, each with their own development team. Both products will receive updates independently of each other.
